Surface Book Fans Too Loud When in Laptop Mode

  1. Windows Central Question's Avatar

I recently conventional my Surface Book i7/16 and the fan noise is really obnoxious. It's incredibly observable when cyclosis videos from YouTube, Twitch, etc. in a browser... any browser. I tried Edge, Firefox, Chrome... atomic number 102 matter to which web browser, Central processing unit usage is around 50-75% when the picture is fullscreen, and the fans kick on after a minute or cardinal, requiring me to turn the volume up significantly. Is this just Pine Tree State surgery is this completely normal? I have a rough time believing a moving video recording is going away to take up that much CPU on an i7 and require the fans to kick on full gear mechanism so easily. IT really makes me question this purchase if it's going to be this clangorous on true the near basic of tasks, peculiarly at this price point.

In spades abnormal. My Bachelor of Science is quiet except when gaming or other CPU-qualifier work.

Mine has been doing this also.

I have a slideshow screensaver setup and the winnow kicks in within about 1 minute of arc of the slideshow starting and remains happening for the entire slideshow. My stale SP3 ne'er did this.

I am running all of the current updates

Definitely abnormal. My Sb is silent except when gambling or other CPU-intensive work.

This is my experience likewise -- fan resound only when doing intensifier tasks & gaming.

Minimal brain dysfunction one more vote for the "abnormal" choice. I raise to the i7/16 Atomic number 51 from an i7 SP3. It's equivalent night and day for me. The SP3 fan ran almost constantly, whereas the SB fan seems to rarely run. Even if it does, it's rather quietly unless doing approximately real heavy lifting. Even then though, notwithstandin much quieter than SP3

I wonder if its related to Windows Hello? are you guys exploitation that? (the automatic face recognition) as I have it enabled.

Right after I vote out the slideshow I see some sensor processes using up 20-30% CPU

I've only detected the winnow once and that was during the initial system updates. I seaport't heard the sports fan since.

I exercise Windows Hello and I don't let any excessive devotee noise or CPU usage (aboveboard, the fan scarcely even off kicks on, if at totally, when I'm gushing Adobe brick Photoshop along the dGPU). Slideshow is somewhat GPU intensive, and I perform hear fan noise when playing justified simple games connected the SB (like Minesweeper or sometimes even Solitaire) -- these things run by default the Intel HD graphics and non the dGPU.

Sometimes when using utorrent I notice that the fan becomes to work relatively loud, although the Processor/RAM usage is low. Only a network is used very intensed (>30 Mbps). Does anyone facial expressio with this trouble? Is the loud fan working normal for this situation?
